Foster-to-Adopt
So You’re thinking aBout adopting but want to foster the cat first…this is the program for you!
Our Foster-to-Adopt Program is for cats that are not in our adoption lounge, but still need a home! These cats are available to be fostered before their adoption is finalized. Since you are not able to meet the kitty first, we offer a foster period of seven days for you to see if it's a good fit. You will take them home and get to know their personality over the week. If after seven days all is going well, we would finalize the adoption paperwork.
The cats in the lounge at The Catcade are not available for Foster-to-Adopt. Only the cats listed on this page are available to foster before adopting.
If there is a cat below that interests you, please email Elle at elle(at)thecatcade.org
Rookie - male, 3 years old
Rookie is the most polite little man that ever existed. He’s shy with new people and cats, but is very brave about everything and puts on his best face when he wants a snuggle. Once he’s comfortable with you, he will want to hang out with you all the time. This man loves love (as long as he knows who you are!). I hear he’s quite the expert at catching (toy) mice, too. He would do best in a quiet home with other relaxed animals.
Rookie is missing some toe beans on his back paw due to a previous injury, but gets around without pain or issue!
Medical costs: $100
Dorito and Emmy - male, female 2 years old.
Emmy and Dorito are like if the sun and the moon were personified into cats. Dorito is our sunshine boy who loves playing and hanging out with his people, while Emmy is a bit more shy and independent, just like the moon. But every moon needs a sun to circle, thus Emmy began to orbit Dorito. He is her comfort and her constant companion, even though they aren’t biological siblings. These two are a bonded pair who will give you every aspect of what it’s like to own cats; the girl who will sit with you on the couch, and the boy who will want all of the snuggles.
Dorito and Emmy would do well as the only cats in the home.
Medical costs: $200 for the pair.
Athena - female, 5 years old. *adoption pending
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to have an extra 10 pounds attached to your hip, Athena is here to experiment with you! She will happily sit next to/on top of you while you document what it feels like. It will probably feel warm, it might vibrate a little bit, and it might be a little damp (because Athena drools when she’s happy). If you’re missing ten pounds and some purrs in your life, Athena is the girl for you.
Athena would like to be the only cat in the home.
Medical costs: $100
Condessa - female, 1 year old
Condessa is actively working on her skills so she can run away and join the circus. I’m sure that if you provide her with enough standing ovations for her acrobatic skills and treats, she would be happy to bring the circus right into your home. Of course, I call it a “circus”, but really it’s just her doing her adorable acrobatics and then falling asleep on the couch beside you in weird positions. If you don’t mind a little bit of gymnastics in your home, Condessa could add the right spice to your life. She would even be willing to teach other fun cats in the home her tricks if you have a cat or two! Condessa is being fostered with her friend Killer Queen. The two are already besties and would make a lovely pair!
Condessa would do well with her foster friend Killer Queen or in a home with other relaxed cats.
Medical costs: $100
Killer Queen - female, 1 year old
Killer Queen is all gas, no brakes. Seriously, until the gas tank is empty, this girl is go go go! She’s an absolute sweetie pie with a love for dashing about. KQ also absolutely adores the company of her foster friend, Condessa. When these two first met, there was a bit of a vogue-off for top gal, but they’ve decided they can share the top spot of Diva #1 together.
Killer Queen would love to go home with her foster friend, Condessa, but would do well with other cats in the home.
Medical costs: $100
Twixy - female, 1 year old
Twixy is a new member of the Tripod Club, but man, she’s really killing it! This sweet girl had a rough start, but she’s tasted the cushy life and is really getting used to it. She will be your shadow throughout the day, as she would love nothing more than to sit right beside you and receive occasional chin scratches. All boxes, blankets, and pillows should be presented for her inspection; the house must be extra cozy! Three legs doesn’t mean less playtime, though, so be ready for wand toy time! If you’re looking for just a real good cat (and don’t mind missing appendages) then inquire about Twixy today!
Medical costs: $100
Turkey Leg - male, 1 year old
I think Turkey Leg might actually be from another planet. Like, maybe some aliens heard about cats, tried to make one, and sent him down to our planet to do some recon. As you can see above, he has no teeth (the aliens didn’t realize that cats had them). Mister Leg has anodontia, which means his adult teeth never developed. He eats just fine without them! He also doesn’t have an undercoat, so he loves cozy blankets and snuggles. Lastly, Turkey Leg sometimes coughs? He doesn’t have asthma (trust us, we checked, several times!), he really does just cough sometimes.
Other than being weird, Turkey Leg really is just a normal cat who wants to have normal cat friends and do normal cat things. Totally sounds like something an alien might say, right? He loves playing with his foster friends and sitting with them, so fellow cat friends is a must in his new home!
Turkey Leg is an odd one who has a few weird things going on but he does not need any continued medical care. In the first year after adoption, The Catcade will assist with vet care and any issues that may arise that are linked to his known oddities.
