Foster-to-Adopt

So You’re thinking aBout adopting but want to foster the cat first…this is the program for you!

Our Foster-to-Adopt Program is for cats that are not in our adoption lounge, but still need a home! These cats are available to be fostered before their adoption is finalized. Since you are not able to meet the kitty first, we offer a foster period of seven days for you to see if it's a good fit. You will take them home and get to know their personality over the week. If after seven days all is going well, we would finalize the adoption paperwork. 

The cats in the lounge at The Catcade are not available for Foster-to-Adopt. Only the cats listed on this page are available to foster before adopting.

Marge (male) and Marie (female) - 5 months old

These two playful siblings are the perfect pair! They absolutely love wrestling, chasing each other around, and generally keeping one another entertained. They also enjoy the company of other cats and would love a home where they can continue to have a feline friend around. When it comes to humans, they’re a little more reserved. They may be shy at first and will need some time to feel comfortable in a new home, but once they’ve had a chance to settle in and realize they’re safe, they’ll happily hang out with you.

Marge and Marie will need a patient adopter who is willing to put in some effort and wait for them to come out of their shell. A home with other cats that they can be friends with would be ideal, but is not necessary. These two are a bonded pair.

Cherimoya - female, 1 year old

This fluffy girl is as sweet as can be. She loves attention from people and the company of other cats. She’s so happy to stare out a window and see how many different bird calls she can identify (she’s been working really hard on learning!). You should also probably have a cat tower ready for her, because she loves sitting at the very top and pretending she’s a pretty princess. Rapunzel, who? Cherimoya will need plenty of brushing to keep that coat nice and luxurious, too, so make sure you are working out your brushing arm!

Cherimoya will do best in a home with other cats and attentive people.

Bill the Panther & Roofus - 15 year olds, males

These senior boys have been through quite a lot. Their owner passed away so they came to a shelter. The to the shelter in Springfield, IL that was destroyed by a tornado. We were able to take these boys into our program and now they’re ready for their forever. Bill the Panther & Roofus both have kidney disease and will need a specialized diet of kidney food. The Catcade will provide one year of kidney care food post-adoption.

Who can give these sweet boys a home for their golden years?

Glasgow - female, 1 year old

Oh Queen Glasgow. This girl is barely a year old and she’s had a whole litter of children. She’s a baby who had babies, for real. Now that her kids are all grown and ready to be adopted, she’s ready to enjoy life herself! Don’t let her sad eyes fool you, she’s a happy girl who is a 50% play and 50% horizontal lounge. She loves fetching little balls with bells in them and then running through her cat tunnel. Once she’s had her fill, she’s happy to receive forehead smooches and be told how beautiful she is. Afterwards, she’ll roll over for belly rubs or go to her high tower cat tree where she can watch over the peasants (you) below her majesty.

Glasgow would do best in a home with other understanding cats, or with a very attentive human. She desperately wants to make cat friends, but isn’t sure how. She will need someone who experienced in a little bit of cat sass and emotion during introductions if she’s joining a family with other cats.

Heloise - female, 1 year old *adoption pending

Heloise is a very lovely young lady who has recently discovered that she is a lap cat. Her daily routine includes sleeping in, breakfast, then napping after breakfast. Around mid-afternoon it is go time. She loves a wand toy or anything she can chase. Once she’s sufficiently tired, then begins more napping (preferably on your lap). In the evening she wakes up briefly to do some bird watching, before she ushers you to bed so you can do it all over tomorrow.

Heloise is very happy as the only cat in an attentive home.

Empire - female, 1.5 years old *adoption pending

This beautiful gal is all things adorable. She likes to chase and run with her foster brother, play with her mouse toys, look like a little angle. Empire is a little shy at first but once she feels comfortable, she enjoys pets and being with her people.

Empire would do well in a home with another energetic, playful cat.

Poe Poe, Hero Chicken Nugget Cookie, and Hot New Bombshell - 2.5 months old (male, male, female)

These three kiddos are as cute as can be. They are quite shy at first, but once they’re settled in, they’re setting up bank heists and getaway cars like it’s no one’s business. We know that a household looking for three kittens is rare, but we would like to keep at least two of these kittens together. The third will need to go to a home that already has a young, energetic cat at home. These kittens cannot be adopted solo!

Cheddar Bay - female, 2.5 years old *adoption pending

Yep, that’s right: an orange lady cat! And a weird one, at that. Cheddar Bay doesn’t have the normal qualities of an orange cat; she probably has a few brain cells, she enjoys snuggling over causing chaos, and she’s a casual grazer who isn’t very food motivated. She absolutely goes nuts for a wand toy and then is happy to crash and watch some bird TV.

Cheddar Bay is happy as the only cat in the home. She could get along with other relaxed cat friends who are not overly playful.

She also has pupils of two different sizes. She has been checked by our vet for any ongoing conditions or illnesses and has gotten a clean bill of health!

Canpanita - female, 1.5 years old

Despite these pictures, this sweet baby actually has a good amount of energy! She loves to chirp and chat and enjoys playing with her foster parents. Her favorite form of entertainment is spring toys. Her forever home must come with a lifetime supply of them! As you can see, once she’s had her fill, she enjoys a nice snuggle next to her people in a nice, fuzzy blanket.

Canpanita would do well with someone who is interested in playing and works from home or possibly with another playful kitty companion.

Enzo Ferrari - male, 2 years old

Enzo Ferrari found himself at a shelter and on the euthanasia list after biting a child. So, we pulled him to give him a chance. We knew he would be a tougher case because he needs to be placed in the right home since he has a bite on his record. The ideal home would be with an experienced cat owner who can undetsand cat body language and recognize when Enzo feels overwhelmed and give him his space. This typically happens with too many butt taps. A childfree home is going to be important.

Enzo is a big fan of other cats, he’s a cat’s cat. We’d love to find him somewhere that has cat friends who will let him bathe them all day and play WWE smackdown with him. Beyond that, he loves some good pets, all the snacks, and has the best purr.

Calamity Jane - female, 8 months old

This young girl was a mom just a few months ago, a scrawny little thing that showed up at a shelter in Springfield, IL with three newborn kittens. She was just a tiny little thing but now her kittens are grown and she is ready to enjoy the good life. She’s thriving, loves her snacks, and is looking nice and healthy. Calamity Jane is a rootin, tootin little sweetie pie! This girl loves attention and cuddles and will give deep and rumbly purrs if you give scritches down her down her back.

Calamity Jane is an easy going kitty, she might be shy at first but would make a good companion to most anyone.
