Foster-to-Adopt

So You’re thinking aBout adopting but want to foster the cat first…this is the program for you!

Our Foster-to-Adopt Program is for cats that are not in our adoption lounge, but still need a home! These cats are available to be fostered before their adoption is finalized. Since you are not able to meet the kitty first, we offer a foster period of seven days for you to see if it's a good fit. You will take them home and get to know their personality over the week. If after seven days all is going well, we would finalize the adoption paperwork.

The cats in the lounge at The Catcade are not available for Foster-to-Adopt. Only the cats listed on this page are available for FTA.

If there is a cat below that interests you, please email Elle at elle(at)thecatcade.org

Jinxy - female, 10 months old. Play hard, nap harder.

Jinxy is the definition of “work hard, play hard.” This girl is all up in your business, climbing ladders, wanting to see what you got in your pantry. She wants a ribbon toy, and she wants it ASAP. Jinxy is going to want an active friend in the home, so if your home stash cat has been recently driving you up the wall because he wants to play for the 100th time in an hour, maybe you bring Jinxy home and the two of them can pal around and brew up some crimes?

Jinxy is a special lady who finds new environments and new friends intimidating. She is going to need someone who is patient and experienced with introducing cats to make her feel comfortable. If your cat has never met another cat before, or is also a bit territorial, she’s probably not your girl. Jinxy’s as sweet as can be, she’s just nervous at first and needs to feel fully comfortable before she lets her wild side show.

Moolah - male, 2.5 years old *adoption pending

Please excuse any typos in this bio, because every time I see a picture of this beautiful man, my eyes well up with tears and I cannot control myself. Moolah is an absolute sweetheart of a man who is playful, loving, and chunky. That’s an absolute triple threat, so please PLEASE email me about this cat before I smuggle him home and make my husband say “no” for the 50th time about another cat.

You’ve probably noticed Moolah’s eyes. He had a double entropion procedure, due to his eyelashes turning inward and scratching the eye. This surgery has resolved the issue and he will no longer have any medical needs regarding his eyes other than possibly needing an eye drop occasionally. The shape of his left eye is from the surgery and doesn’t cause him any issues.

Moolah would do best as the only cat in the home.

Medical costs: $100

Sour Cherry - female, 1 year 3 months old

Alright, I told Cherry I wouldn’t tell anyone, but we are in fact posting the photo of her writing her current book. I know, I know, that’s not really cool of me, but she’s a little embarrassed that in her free time she writes romance novels that rival Hallmark movies. She should be proud of that! When she’s not getting her freaky words on paper, she’s asking you to play fetch. Yes, Sour Cherry plays fetch. She would love to talk your ear off and chase a spring toy at the same time, if you’re willing? She would probably benefit from another young cat friend at home, too. Maybe they can swap writing tips, or start going to pilates together or something.

Sour Cherry would do well in a home with a human(s) who can give her lots of exercise and attention, or with another active cat.

Medical costs: $100

Burrata - female, 1 year old *Adoption Pending

I’m jealous that Burrata has a cute Star Wars blanket and I don’t. Apparently she’s a real big fan of the movies. She’ll only watch them in the order they were released though, so adopter-beware. If you’re a chronological watcher, be prepared for a serious conversation with her.

Burrata absolutely adores people. She loves nothing more than curling up on a lap and watching a movie, but she also has her curious moments! You’ll have to keep your cheese on lockdown when she’s around. If you have relaxed cats at home who wouldn’t mind adding a cheese loving nerd, Burrata could fit in well with your household. She’d also do really well as a single cat, as long as she has a spot on your lap.

Medical costs: $100

Narnia (female, 1 year old) and Avalon (female, 2 years old)

Narnia and Avalon are a mother/daughter duo who are as sweet as can be. These two love to snuggle, but also love wand toys, little mice, and jingly ball toys. They’d be very happy to nap with you after a play session. They are a bit shy to warm up, and would do best in a quiet home with no other pets.

Narnia and Avalon have to be adopted as a pair.

Medical costs: $200 for the pair

Kya - female, 4 years old *adoption pending

Kya is a Grade A example of a snuggle bug. Dictionary definition of “love bug”. She’s a snug bug. All of the cute little bugs, this girl is all of them. She’s a bit shy to warm up at first, but with some patience, she’ll be on your couch or at the foot of your bed in no time. Kya loves playing with wand toys and chasing little mice, and she also will ask that you keep every cardboard box that comes into your home for a quick inspection.

Kya would be very happy as the only cat in the home.

Medical costs: $100

Wiggle (female, gray and white, 4 years old) and Sven (male, orange, 5 years old)

Wiggle and Sven are a bonded pair that are perfect opposites. Wiggle is the brains of the operation here, meaning she comes up with the plans. Sven is the quiet type who is happy to go along and do whatever it is Wiggle has planned. They might be opposite personalities, but they both love snuggling up on the sofa together. I hear they both also love a catnip banana, so they have that in common.

Wiggle and Sven must be adopted together. They would prefer a quiet home with no other pets.

Medical costs: $200 together

Lemonade - female, 1 year old *adoption pending

Miss Lemonade was recently described as “the most well-behaved, perfect girl”. I know her foster home might be bit biased, but she is truly one for the ages! She’s like a lovely bag of trail mix, except instead of peanuts, raisins, and M&Ms, she’s the perfect mix of sweet, chill, and playful. Lemonade would be very happy as the only cat in the home, as long as she can receive lots of love and attention.

Medical costs: $100

Clark and Tommyhawk - male, 8 months old

Oh these boys. These two are a duo that could make Bonnie and Clyde look like angels. Don’t get me wrong, Clark and Tommy have their sweet side, but they are as mischievous as they come. It’s also worth noting that they are two of the softest cats I’ve ever touched. These two are like little shadows - they’ll want to be wherever you are, playing with a toy or sitting on your lap making sure you’re not getting any work done.

Clark and Tommyhawk are two cats with strong personalities that would do best as the only cats in the home.

Medical costs: $200 for both

Rookie - male, 3 years old *adoption pending

Rookie is the most polite little man that ever existed. He’s shy with new people and cats, but is very brave about everything and puts on his best face when he wants a snuggle. Once he’s comfortable with you, he will want to hang out with you all the time. This man loves love (as long as he knows who you are!). I hear he’s quite the expert at catching (toy) mice, too. He would do best in a quiet home with other relaxed animals.

Rookie is missing some toe beans on his back paw due to a previous injury, but gets around without pain or issue!

Medical costs: $100

Cinder - female, 5 years old

This adorable girl has been recently described as going back and forth between being loving and sweet and being an independent weirdo. Now I don’t know about you, but that’s my kind of cat. Cinder is very happy finding her own fun running through tunnels, chasing toy mice, and running after crinkle balls. When she’s done being an independent, zooming lady, she’s going to want some head scratches. Her entire world stops when you start scratching her head. Then she’ll fall asleep next to you and you’ll live happily ever after.

Cinder would be very happy as the only cat in the home.

Medical costs: $100

Carson - female, 4 years old

Carson is a snuggly little gal is not only adorable, she's also insanely smart! Carson is in our Accelerated Foster to Adopt Program (sure, I’m making that up, but it sounds fancy, right?) for English AND Spanish! She’s also enrolled in Advanced Bird Identification and Human Psychology. I think the psych class is paying off, because she's become well-versed in how to sweet talk her way into extra treats. While Carson adores people and the attention of humans, she’s not a big fan of other animal friends and would do well as the only cat in an attentive home.

Medical costs: $100

PJ - female, 2 years old

PJ is a cat of many talents. She’s an accomplished pianist, massage therapist, and acrobat. When she’s not dazzling you with her talents, PJ will be sitting as close to your face as humanly possible. PJ gets along with other relaxed cats who don’t mind that she’s the star of the show. She enjoys the companionship of other cats and would not be a fan of being by herself.

Medical costs: $100
